Advocating for independent pharmacies since 1991
We are the student pharmacy chapter of the National Community Pharmacy Association. The NCPA student website states our mission is to encourage, foster, and recognize an interest in community pharmacy ownership and entrepreneurship among future leaders of their profession.
Our mission is to help Samford McWhorter School of Pharmacy students obtain employment at a community pharmacy of their choice within 5 years of graduation.
Our vision is that each student pharmacist will be equipped with the skills and knowledge that shape community practice and drive a competitive market.
Within our student NCPA chapter, we strive to promote independent pharmacy employment. We aim to increase the employment rate of students to independent pharmacies by offering CV's of current students interested in working while in school.
Our chapter provides the opportunity to write a budget plan each year and practice monetary stewardship. We plan to submit a business plan each year to the Business Plan Competition sponsored under NCPA.
Our chapter works toward providing support within the Birmingham area. We are involved in projects such as Scale Back Alabama and Adopt-a-Family. We also put on numerous flu shot clinics before flu season with the help of local pharmacies.
Throughout the year, we provide opportunities for professional development with educational programs like Cardinal Ownership Workshop. We also instill legislative advocacy among our students through seminars with Alabama Pharmacist Association and support at Alabama Legislative Day.
